Hi, Marjan! Could you tell us (and your future students) why did you become a teacher? I was born to be an English teacher. My field of study and work are always connected to teaching and better learning.
Different teachers use different methods, have different approaches to teaching and interacting with students, and they also tend to see their own role in the process in myriad different ways. What kind of teacher are you?
As an eclectic teacher, I am into the different methods and techniques used to improve foreign language skills. My research interests are teaching and testing foreign language skills, innovative study methods and autonomous and lifelong learning. I also believe in making self-regulated learners who can evaluate and correct themselves to become independent learners.
What is the most difficult in this job for you? If a learner does not want to study and learn, especially teens, it isn't easy to work with that person.
What myths about language learning would you like to dispel? Many learners in the Lithuanian context think that English is a difficult language, while linguists think that English is easier than Lithuanian or other languages such as Polish and Russian.
What was the most memorable situation for you as a language teacher? Whenever I see happy and motivated faces in the class, I remember it.
What would you want to say to everyone who is studying a language? It is a gradual process. It is never an overnight change but a lifelong learning and it has different levels, yet we should have fun while learning it.
