Hi Yomica! Could you tell us (and your future students) why did you become a teacher?

I became a teacher because I always felt that I excelled in English at school more than other subjects ( both language and literature ). I wanted to become a teacher to share my passion with others.

Different teachers use different methods, have different approaches to teaching and interacting with students, and they also tend to see their own role in the process in myriad different ways. What kind of teacher are you?

I would describe myself as a flexible teacher, meaning I go with what my students need, their goals. With that being said, I also use my own expertise to create plans and targets that I think would be beneficial in agreement with the student.

What is the most difficult in this job for you?

The one thing I find most difficult in this job is perhaps when courses have ended and students don't feel good about themselves or they feel as though they have made very little progress. I understand this is not a reflection of me however, I think naturally we as humans tend to want to put the blame on something or someone.

What was the most memorable situation for you as a language teacher?

The most memorable situation for me as a language teacher was when I had a student who wanted to learn English to be able to communicate with his partner. He was very frustrated at the beginning of the course but once it had ended he felt totally confident in speaking and was able to understand his partner.

What would you want to say to everyone who is studying a language?

To anyone who is studying a language I would say ... Perseverance.

Thank you, Yomica!
