Birželio mėnesį švenčiama Junteenth – vergovės pabaigos šventė JAV, tad norime su jumis pasidalinti ne tik šios šventės tradicijomis, tačiau papasakoti kuo ji svarbi mums, gyvenantiems taip, atrodytų, toli nuo tos kultūros ir istorijos vingių.
Kuo Junteenth susijusi su Lietuvos istorija? Tiesiogiai galbūt mažai kuo, tačiau panašumų išties yra – Junteenth yra kovų už laisvę simbolis, visai kaip mūsų Lietuvoje švenčiamas Nepriklausomybės atkūrimas nuo sovietų valdžios. Šios šventės mini pasipriešinimą represiniams režimams ir žmonių dvasios stiprybę, laisvės ir teisingumo siekį.
