Kai gyvenimas nelepina, natūralu trokšti kažko geresnio, kažko, kas neprimena dabartinių aplinkybių. Tokiu laikotarpiu dažnas svajojame apie vietą „somewhere over the rainbow“ – ten, kur mūsų bėdos tarsi ištirpsta ir viešpatauja laimė ir geros emocijos.
Ar pastebėjote, kad žmonės siekiantys svajonių ar tikslų, kurie atrodo tiesiog nepasiekiami, dažnai atrodo patys laimingiausi? „Chase rainbows“ – frazė, kuri apibūdina atrodytų nepasiekiamų tikslų ir svajonių siekimą – panašiai kaip bandant surasti vaivorykštės pradžią/pabaigą. Tačiau kartais būname apdovanoti už pastangas ir „find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow“ – randame tą metaforinę vaivorykštę, t.y. atlaikę iššūkius ir kliūtis pasiekiame savo tikslų.

Sarah and Mark, tired of the big city life decided to buy and renovate an old villa under the Tuscan sun. They were imagining themselves basking in the sun, eating rich Italian dishes and drinking wine once the renovation project was finished.
At first, their Italian neighbours couldn’t believe they wanted to renovate that old villa – everyone knew it was beyond repair and these two foreigners were chasing rainbows! But Sarah and Mark weren’t going to let anyone rain on their parade. They began the work with a sunny disposition, and in time, their determination and positive attitude won the neighbours over.
Of course, fixing the villa wasn't easy. It started with lots of problems coming at them all at once - a leaky roof and a messy garden, for example. At times it felt like they were weathering a storm. It didn’t help that they didn’t speak any Italian yet – some of the challenges seemed really overwhelming, and there were many times found themselves in a fog of uncertainty. They got lost in the fog of bureaucracy a few times but they refused to give up and their newly-made Italian friends helped them out a lot.
Over the course of the renovation, they had arguments over small things – from colour of the paint to where to plant the herb garden but afterwards they agreed that those disagreements were like a storm in a teacup – it seemed like a big problem when it really wasn't. It took them nearly a year but they fixed up the villa and made it into a beautiful home. And now they are grateful to each other that they persevered, knowing that somewhere over the rainbow, their dreams awaited. They found their own pot of gold—happiness, friends and a lovely home. And now they bask in the Tuscan sun and have those lovely Italian dinners they imagined with their new friends.
